The more academic side of my work links the worlds of medicine and psychology; my particular focus is on how illness affects relationships and how improving relationships improves health. Here are some highlights:
- since 2003 I've been Consumer Correspondent for the Journal of Family Planning, helping health professionals understand the patients' viewpoint.
- I've written numerous informational resources on health and relationships for both patients and professionals.
- my teaching includes patient workshops on cancer and relationships, and professional workshops on discussing intimate issues with patients.
- I am one of the Family Planning Association's 21st Century Achievers and was nominated for the Our Bodies Ourselves Health Hero Award.
- I am on the Advisory Boards of the British Association of Sex Educators and of Women's Health Concern.
- I am an associate member of both the Royal Society of Medicine and of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists.
If you could use my expertise for projects like these, get in touch with me.
